Ford Tri-Motor Type Rating Program - "Have You Flown A Ford Lately?"

PILOT IN COMMAND TYPE RATING $10,900
(Second In Command Experience $2,900)

Do you want to travel back in time, literally?  Do you close your eyes and dream of taking the controls of the world's first, all-metal commercial airliner - the Ford Tri-Motor?  Well wait no longer because your dreams can now come true!  In January 2008 after more than a fifteen year hiatus, the rare opportunity to get a type rating in the famous 1929 Ford Tri-Motor N414H (5-AT-CS, serial number 74) is available once again.  This is the only Ford Tri-Motor in the world to offer this special experience!  Join us near the spectacular Grand Canyon in Northern Arizona and take part in this chance-in-a-lifetime experience.  This would make an incredible gift for your someone-special.  It is our intent to hold selective classes and each class is limited to no more than three lucky applicants for this limited time.  Be a part of history and inquire about the details today.

PROGRAM SUMMARY

Fee includes instructional flight manual, ground school, 5 hours of dual flight instruction plus FAA examiner check ride (approximately 6 total flight hours).

The Type Rating is NOT guaranteed in four hours of flight time and it completely depends on the pilot abilities. Additional flight time will be charged at $1900 / hour.

Minimum requirements: Private Pilot Certificate with a instrument and multiengine land rating along with proficiency in both tailwheel and multiengine aircraft and a minimum 3rd class medical. If a pilot has bare minimum requirements, additional time might be required.

Allow three full days. Ground school is approximately 4 hours on day one. Dual flight instruction is four hours for PIC and (two hours for "SIC Experience"). Check ride is approximately one hour for PIC, and there is no "check-ride" for SIC experience.

Deposit of $1000 is required to secure class slot and flight manual will be sent upon receipt.

A successful completion of the type rating counts as a BFR.

Make sure to bring current medical, pilot certificate, log book, and coveralls or clothing that just might be oily!

At this price classes will generally require a minimum of two students and will be held to no more than three applicants.

For additional cost and convenience, the airplane can be relocated to the Las Vegas, Nevada area where training and check ride can be conducted, rather than near the Grand Canyon in Northern Arizona. This might provide more convenience for students with less travel time or for students with lower flight time and experience.

The aircraft will NOT be placed in any unnecessary peril. If, during the initial stages of training, a deficiency in basic tailwheel or multiengine proficiency is demonstrated, the flying may be terminated. This program is conservatively based on the best available circumstances and assumptions regarding the applicant's flying abilities, weather conditions, etc. If additional flight hours or room nights are required due to circumstances beyond our control, additional costs will be the direct responsibility of the applicant.

EXAMPLE PROGRAM ITINERARY

Day One - Arrive Grand Canyon in the afternoon. Meet the group at the hotel. (hotel accommodations are included in this program up to three nights. Meals not included.)
Day Two - Approximately 4 hours of ground school held in at Valle Airport Terminal, then begin flight training that afternoon.
Day Three - Continue with flight training.
Day Four - FAA Certified Check-ride in N414H (approximately one flight hour) and conclude program. Participants can depart that afternoon.
